1. Introduction

Welcome to Calory. Your privacy is critical to us. We designed Calory to be as anonymous as possible while still providing powerful AI-driven nutrition and fitness insights. This policy explains what data we collect, why we collect it, and how we protect it.

2. Information Collection & Linkage

For the purposes of the Apple App Store, we declare that data collected by Calory is linked to the user's identity via a persistent, anonymous Account ID.

• Anonymous Account ID: When you use Calory, we assign an anonymous, randomly generated ID to your device. We do not collect your name, email, or phone number.
• Body & Health Data: We collect and store your weight, height, age, gender, and BMR to calculate your calorie targets and deficit.
• HealthKit Integration: Calory reads your energy expenditure and activity data from Apple HealthKit. This data is used to calculate your daily deficit and is synced to our secure database for your history.
• AI-Processed Content: When you use AI features (photo logging or text-based food/exercise estimation), the food photo or description you provide is sent to Google Gemini AI solely to estimate nutritional or calorie content. No personal identifiers, account IDs, or health history are included in these requests.

3. How We Use Information

We use the data we collect specifically to:

• Calculate and track your personalized Basal Metabolic Rate (BMR).
• Analyze food intake through AI-powered image and text recognition.
• Provide a historical timeline of your calorie burn and consumption.
• Improve the accuracy of our nutritional estimation models.

4. Third-Party Partners

To provide our services, we partner with the following providers:

• Google Firebase: Used for secure, anonymous user authentication and cloud database storage.
• Google Gemini AI: When you log food using a photo or text description, or log exercise by description, that content is sent to Google Gemini AI to estimate calories, protein, or MET values. The request contains only the food/exercise content you provide — no name, email, account ID, or other identifying information is attached. Google's privacy policy applies to data processed by Gemini.

5. Data Control & Deletion

You have full control over your data. You can delete your entire account and all associated profile data directly from the app's settings at any time. Once deleted, this action is permanent and cannot be undone.
